These compositions are like types of mirror. Maybe “reflective surface” is a better way of describing these compositions. The things that are reflected back to the individual are the tastes, desires, concerns which he, or she, or you or I, may be carrying inside.
< all of these images are like mirrors in the fun-house >
Probably all art has these reflective capacities. Really likely all image including a telephone bill would include these kinds of reflective capacities. Will’s works here shown are designed with these capacities in mind.
Similar to the world-measurement of geometric equations, these photo-collages result in sometimes very personal and private “measurements” of one’s own mind, if not one’s own inner terrain. It’s ok, Will is like a doctor this way. And the doctor has seen it all.

Today we people seem to often seek balance, harmony, wholeness. We tend to do this in personal, subjective and even private ways.  Mr. McDougal’s art works are precise explorations of this desire towards such wholeness.

These are images geared and designed with the intention to at least assuage any trauma, anxiety, self-doubt or other subjective, personal disturbances. One’s mind is, rhetorically, a most personal matter and yet at the same time we all share the same critical concerns of well being. That is why these images have practically universal appeal.

William McDougal in this way functions as a kind of doctor of art. These images are similar to visual prescriptions.

Or perhaps Mr. McDougal is more of a chef, and these works are a nutritional meal here provided- powerful imagery to be consumed and digested in consciousness. It’s not always easy to digest but its very nutritious.

In another sense, one could say that these art works by Will McDougal are composed like  mathematical equations. Again, this is likely true for all art but here Mr. McDougal is consciously applying such principles. These images are combinations of symbolic forms, just like any physics equation

Let's Talk about Sex 01

ALL WORKS DIGITAL PHOTO COLLAGE There is a lot of exploration in variation in the images in the works of William McDougal Many of these feature President Abraham Lincoln, some feature other political figures. There are also some obscure folks included, such as Edward Bernays.

Will continues to produce works like these. Most of the works on this particular page are created within 3 months of January 2013.

Other series of Will’s work include “Lincoln Happens” picturing Lincoln as though a kind of spiritual political saint (President Abraham Lincoln some works illustrating His authority to the kids on Main Street) — Mr. Lincoln is indeed Representing, and in this Roman paradigm he does Represent Jupiter, the real authority of the Lord of the Skies.
Mr. Lincoln is cast in a way that Julius Caesar was for a period in his career in Rome. That role is as the chief Priest of the national religion. Many of these later works suggest that Lincoln is the representative of Jupiter. That is what these “UR Moms Have Posse” works refer to. He is saying,  “Get right with the Almighty”. A little knowledge of Latin is helpful here. “Posse” is a word that comes from a verb. The verb Posse is about “being able, to be able, of being capable”. In the days of the American “Wild West”, a posse was a group of able-bodied men who where on hand to get any tasks done. When rap exploded in the USA, the same term Posse was used here and there, and with the same meaning as in the “Wild West”. A posse is your “crew”. They “got your back”. Taking a look at Main Street USA, one notices that many kids are emulating what they see in the “street” of the ghetto and inner cities, as well as how that is all reflected in any media. Authority, for much of American youth, appears to be found and demonstrated in what is often described as “thug identity”.
A translation for “UR Moms Have Posse” would be: no matter who you are, regardless of any influence you may have, including the ability to call dependable people to come and help, when the time comes and the skylord says so, there is no discussion, one’s time is done. “UR Moms Have Posse”.
Lincoln in this work, is Representing.
Also, here’s a great music video made with Will’s photo-collages. Check it out!!!
